Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation on Janurary 1st, freeing all slaves. Gave the Gettysburg address after the Union victory. Lincoln helped push through the thirteenth amendment.

Ulysses S. Grant

Mar 4, 1869

Ulysses S. Grant sponsored two scientific discovery projects. Grant supported the Blaine Amendment. Helped win Vicksburg.

Rutherford B. Hayes

Mar 4, 1877

Withdrew from the south which ended Reconstruction. Federal troops and railroad workers was striking, but it clashed. Vetoed the Bland-Allison Silver purchase.

James Garfield

Mar 4, 1881

Funded an education system. Appointed 25 foreign ministers. Garfield's administration negotiated a reciprocal with Queen Ranavalona II

Chester Arthur

Sep 19, 1881

Became Washington's most eligible bachelor. Signed the Pendleton Civil Reform Act. Appointed the members of the Civil Service Commission.

Grover Cleveland

Mar 4, 1885

Ended Apache wars of new Mexico and Arizona. Passed the Interstate Commerce Act. Grover Cleveland's dedication of the Statue of Liberty was huge.

Benjamin Harrison

Mar 4, 1889

He passed the Dependent and Disabilty Pension Act. Proposed the Federal Election Bill. Compromised the Sherman Silver Purchase Act.

William Mckinley

Mar 4, 1897

Enacted the highest tariff in history. Seized Manila in a 100 day battle. Annexed the Philippines, Guam, and Puerto Rico.

Theodore Roosevelt

Sep 14, 1901

Passed the Meat Inspection Act. He passed the Pure Food and Drug Act too. Signed the proclamation to establish Oklahoma the 46th state in the Union.

Woodrow Wilson

Mar 4, 1913

Maneuvered the Underwood Act through the Congress. Declared war on Germany. Established the Fourteen Points.
