Frogs

  • Frog Eggs

    Frog Eggs
Mommy frogs lay many eggs because some will die before they are hatched. It will take the eggs 6 to 21 days to hatch.
  • Young Tadpole

    Young Tadpole
The tadpole is very fragile and has poorly developed gills, a mouth, and a tail. It will latch on to floating weeds or grasses in the water and after about 7 to 10 days, it will start swimming around in the water and feed on algae. 4 weeks later, skin begins to grow over the gills. By this time, they are acting socially with other tadpoles and even fish!
  • Mature Tadpole

    Mature Tadpole
6 to 9 weeks later the legs start to appear. The arms will begin to pop out, elbow first! 9 more weeks go by and the tadpole looks more like a little frog with a really long tail.
  • Froglet

    Froglet
12 weeks after the tadpole grows, it only has a little tale stub. It will no longer need the water as much as before and find somewhere to lay eggs where the process can start call over again!
  • Frog

    Frog
Between 12 and 16 weeks the frog will have completed the stages. Frogs that live in colder places may take the whole winter to go through the tadpole stage.
Now the process will start all over again!
  • Frog Dies

    Frog Dies
After 10 to 12 years of being alive, the frog dies.
