The Bill of Rights is a document that gave a certain amount of rights to all U.S citizens. At this time the Anti-Federalists didn’t want to pass the Constitution, unless they were certain that they have certain rights that can not be taken away. -
Alien Act
During the time that the United States might go to war with France, Congress passed this law to deport anyone who might be dangerous. They were trying to do everything they needed to keep all of the U.S citizens safe if someone tried to do something dangerous. -
John Marshall Appointed
John Adams nominated John Marshall as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. John Marshall ended up serving 34 years as Chief Justice. He guided the Supreme Court and it has affected the government to make it what it is today. -
Marbury vs. Madison
The last day of John Adam’s day of President he had 42 people under the Organic Act. He was finished and the papers were signed and just need it to be delivered, but he ran out of time and couldn’t finish sending them all out. So Jefferson canceled all of the remaining letters, since John Adams ran out of time. -

Lewis and Clark Expedition
The purpose of the expedition was to explore their newly bought land. Lewis and Clark found many men they would take with them on their two year long journey towards the ocean. They were headed to the Pacific Ocean, and they ended up making it all the way. Unfortunately they never wrote down and of the names of the rivers/lakes to locate on their map. -

The United States bought the Louisiana Territory from France to make sure they can pass through the Mississippi River to trade without any problems. -
The Embargo Act
Embargo Act-1807- This stopped all trade between America and any other country. The goal was to get France and Brittan fighting with each other. But that plan backfired and the people suffered for it, this ended in 1809. -

War of 1812- Ended after two years. War was known as one of the forgotten wars. The British army, after the war, attempted to capture Baltimore and New Orleans. -
Battle of New Orleans
At this time Andrew Jackson was President. Before the Battle of New Orleans the Americans and Britain signed a peace treaty, but by the time they got the note of the peace treaty they already went off to war. It is known as the forgotten war because nothing was gained and nothing was lost. -

Missouri had finally had enough population to become and offical state. Most of there population was all from the South, and was suppose to be a slave state. Although, in 1820 there was an agreement that no states can be come a slave state above the north, except Missouri. Since Missouri became a slave state, to make it even, they made Maine a free state to balance it out. -

Election of James Monroe
Election of James Monroe-1820- He was known as the “Era of Good Feelings” president. He created the Monroe Doctrine. That stated that the United States should not interfere with European Affairs. -

Gibbons V. Ogden- Led by John Marshall. It said that the federal commence clause outdid a state law and gave control to one group of people. -
Closing of the U.S Bank
President Andrew Jackson vetos the bill. -
Monroe Docterine
The Monroe Doctrine stated that the United States should not interfere with European Affairs. -
Election of 1824
The election of 1824 made the “Era of Good Feelings” end. Andrew Jackson won 43% of the majority votes, but wasn’t elected because he didn’t get 50% of the votes. The House of Representatives had to choose, and they chose John Quincy Adams. -
Indian Removal Act
Indian Removal Act-1830- U.S. Government wanted to “relocate” the native Americans to a place west of the Mississippi river. -
Worcester vs Georgia
Worcester v. Georgia-March 3, 1832-Decision was made by Chief Justice Marshall. This case was to settle tribal sovereignty. -
The Sedition Act
Sedition Act-1918- This made it a crime to criticize the government or the Constitution
