It Established the Alien and sedition act (alien:expanded the years to become a citizen and sedition: no-one could speak negatively about the federalist while their in power), XYZ (france were capturing u.s’s trade ships and they tried to bribe the americans, and Adams refused to pay France and instead built up the navy), and etc. -
Election of George Washington:
1st president of the United States; set many precedents and showed civic virtue. -
Alien Act
It expanded the year to become a citizen; if you aren’t a citizen you can’t vote. -
Sedition Act
It made it illegal to say something about the government. -
Election of Thomas Jefferson
1801 It was the first time democratic-republican was in control as president. -
marbury v. madison
Federalist appointed judge by Adams but he didn’t get the job, because they didn’t want another federal judge. -
Lousiana Purchase
Jefferson bought Louisiana doubling the size of the U.S. -
John Marshall
He appointed the Marbury v. Madison, McColloch v. Maryland, and Gibbons v. Ogden. He also help establish the Judicial Review. -
Embargo Act
Embargo Act was banning trade for everyone. -

He continued to ban trade with Great Britain that lead to the war of 1812. -

Non-intercourse Act everyone could trade except for Britain and France because they were in war. -

Andrew Jackson wanted to close the bank because, he thought it was too powerful. -

started because great Britain was giving Indians guns and ammunition
and Great Britain started impressments they took our men and put them in the in there navy they were fighting for the western frontier. -

It was fought after the War of 1812. It;s significant because they didn’t know the war was over. -

It was called “ Era of Good Feelings” because Democratic-Republican party became dominant because the Federalist just kind of faded away. (1817) -

The power of the national government was strengthen. (1819) -

European countries couldn’t interfere in the Western Hemisphere. -
Election of Andrew Jackson
Jackson was an average male. He was born poor and he didn’t go to an Ivy League College. He was a democrat and he believed in the people’s rights. -

Jackson won the vote for president so easily, because Adams and Clay made a deal behind the scenes. -

Indian-Removal Act: It gave the president the power to move Native Americans west of the Ms. -
Worcester v. Georgia:
In 1832, Georgia, the cherokee people, and Samuel Worcester established the case Worcester v. Georgia. Worcester, a missionary, that lived with the Cherokee indians and was sent to prison under Jackson’s law; however, the law didn’t apply to the cherokee because they were under the federal government.
