Campaigning comes in many forms, such as Internet ads, direct mail, Debates are also a major form of campaigning, they allow the public to see what the canidates plans are for teh next four years. This helps voters to determine who they will vote for. Campaigning is a major part of the election, it encourages citizens not only just to vote, but to vote for the specific canidate who is campaigning. -
Caucus and Primary
Caucus and Primaries are both used in the election process to inform voters. They are both done differently, a caucus is where citizens give speeches on behalf of the canidates running. They hold statewide conventions where the delegates are chosen for the national convention. Primaries are when voters elect delegates who support their choice. Votes are taken by ballot.Primary types, open, closed, semi-open, semi-closed, blanket, and run-off. Each state in the country runs theirs differently. -
Politcal Party Conventions
The Political Party Conventions are a huge part of the election process. The conventions are where parties officially nominate their canidates for offfice. At each convention (democrat & republican) a group of delegates will vote on the party member they wish to officially elect. The party member who recieves the most votes wins the "election" and is officailly running for office under their said party. This process is used at both conventions. -
Election Day
Each voter goes to their designated precinct and casts their vote for each election. Voting takes place all day, and after this day campaigning is over. That night the votes are counted and the election winner is usually announced. -
Electoral College
When voting in a presidential election, voters are acutally voting for a group of electors. Each group of electors gathers in their state's capitol to cast their vote for both president and vice
