  • The Indian Removal Act

    The Indian Removal Act
The Indian Removal Act was a rather sad time in our history. This act led to the removal of many indians from Georgia. President Jackson issued this act in order to move the indians, so land could be settled by white settlers. The removal journey was known as the Trail of Tears, because of the many deaths and sadness due to loss of homeland. The impact of this was that there were no indians in the east side, and they lived in present day Oklahoma. This led to Worchester vs. GA in court.

    Worchester vs. GA
Worchester vs Georgia was the court case that dealt with Georgia trying to take the natives land. John Marshall was the Chief Justice, who said Georgia had no right to take the land. President Jackson, upon hearing this, said "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!" Eventually, even after the ruling, President Jackson was able to remove the Chereokee from their land, and moved the rest of the natives to present-day Oklahoma as well. About 100,000 Indians were moved.
  • Nullification Crisis

    Nullification Crisis
The Nullification Crisis surrounded the Tariff of 1828. This Tax was issued to protect the Northern Industry from the competition of Europe, which made it a protective tariff. It hurt the South however, because it made foreign goods cost more, which is what the south depended on. This led to South Carolina passing with the Nullification Act, making the tariff illegal, and threatened to secede otherwise. This tariff impacted the south, since they did not have many routes to trade with the North.
  • Bank War

    Bank War
The bank war involved the 2nd National Bank. President Jackson wanted to get rid of it since he thought it hurt the liberties of people, and hurt the states rights. When the Charter for Bank renewal passes, he vetoed it. He said " I will kill the bank before it kills me". He planned to start reducing the power of the bank by taking out funds, and distributing the funds among other state banks. He thought the bank only helped the educated. He was opposed by Nicholas Biddle, president of the bank.
