Prenatal Development- Mother

    Week 1-2

    Mom is not actually pregnant during this stage. Ob-Gyn counts pregnancy as 40 weeks after the last period.

    Possible missed period. The mother could find out shes pregnant at the end of the 4th week. Pregnancy test measures HCG hormone levels.

    Breasts feel full with little weight gain. Between 2-4 weeks you can hear the heart beat.

    Week 5-6

    Breasts become tender and enlarged. More frequent urination. Increases heart rate and heartburn.

    Mother experiences no more morning sickness. Appetite increases, dark spots, and loose ligaments.

    A mother can have 18-20 pounds in weight gain, along with back aches and fatigue. Fetal kicks also interrupt rest.

    A mother can have 10-20 pounds in weight gain. Carpal tunnel syndrome may also develop. Difficulty sleeping

    Mother feels decreased contractions on lungs and organs.

    Increased abdomen size affects posture, it also causes stretch marks. Brest may leak as well.
