birth through 2 weeks
Infants will first lose weight but by the 2nd week, they should have regained their weight and surpassed their birth weight.
Infants will often sleep for hours at a time in the first couple of weeks after birth. The stress and craziness of coming into the world can be exhausting for a new infant. -
toddlerhood
Toddlers will begin to show their temperament more so than when they were babies. They are beginning to develop more, emotionally. They are learning compassion and begin to care about other people and animals. -
infancy
The infant's brain is growing rapidly. Gross and fine motor skills are being developed and beginning to be used. Cognitive development means that now the infant, on the brink of toddlerhood begins discovering that doing certain things, have a result. For example, in this photo, learning that banging pots and pans together causes a loud noise. -
adolescence
Adolescence is a time when a child's friends are still extremely important in their lives. They are struggling for their independence from their parents . Since children are away from their parents a lot more, parents might begin monitoring them more frequently. Due to their socializing with their peers in larger group settings during this stage, some might find themselves getting into "trouble". This is also the time when they go from being teenagers to young adults. -
early childhood
During early childhood, one of the social stages that children encounter is the discovery of gender roles. As the picture below shows, baking and being in the kitchen is essentially known as the female gender "role". -
middle childhood
Middle childhood brings on many changes. Children go from spending all of their time with their families and having their worlds revolve around their parents to caring about spending every chance they get with their friends. The photo below is an example of how important friendships are during this critical stage.
