Technologies Providing Innovation

  • HP - 150

    HP - 150
Released in November of 1983, this was the first commercial device released to include touch screen technology to the average person. Created by Hewlett-Packard, integrated the technology into desktop. The touch screen capabilities still had a long way to go, so it was optional to be included into the device. It wasn't until later in the '90s that Apple integrated into their MessagePad in 1993 to introduce into phones. Now all my cellular or tablet devices have touch screen capabilities.
  • Nintendo 64

    Nintendo 64
Released by Nintendo in 1996, this was their first console capable of polygonal rendering. It was the last of the ROM cartridge gaming consoles made, while the PS1 was released prior and using CD ROMs, the Nintendo 64 was more powerful with 64-bit processing power. It was my first exposure to video games and I have since collected every single Nintendo Console including the Zelda franchise to match.
  • Google

    Google
The development of Google began in 1996, it wasn't until September 4th of 1998 that Google was a fully incorporated company. Created and developed by Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Google started out slow as the rest of the internet did, by today's date, Google has over 7 billion searches every day.
  • Myspace

    Myspace
While not the first social media platform to be incepted, it was the first that took off with the ability to have a customizable profile page. I remember creating my profile back in middle school, eventually everyone I knew switched to Facebook as that became the dominating social media network amongst my generation. Co-Founder of Myspace Tom Anderson sold the platform in 2005 for $580 million dollars, quite a financial development in worth in just 2 years since inception.
  • Xbox One

    Xbox One
What made the Xbox One enticing to myself over the competitor PlayStation 4, the ability to move my access of my account between the console and my desktop was astonishing. I can easily play the same games on my PC with friends who are on their console, and vice versa. Switching from just a gaming console, Microsoft intended this to take the step in the direction to make their console as an all around entertainment system, rather than video games and basic internet access.
