Sugar Act
The Sugar act was an indirect tax put on sugar and otherr things like coffee and wine. The goal was to decrease colonial smuggling in west indies. Colonist did not like this though so they boycotted it. -
1st Quartering Act
The Quartering Act says that you must house and feed british soldiers in the colonies. If you refused them then the government would take your home. -
Stamp Act
The Stmap Act is a direct tax put on all printed goods such as newspapers up to official documents to playing cards. The tax ranges anywhere from 1 cent to 10 dollars. Colonists felt that their rights were being violated. -
Declaratory Act
The Declaratory act was a law made that stated that the king could overright any laws made that he disagreed with. -
Boston Masacre
The Britishsent troops to boston in response to to the americans protest. British soldiers competed for work with people in Boston. In 1770 a group of ropemakers fought with a detachment of soldiers who were taking their jobs. When a mob of many waterfront workers confronted nine British soldiers, the soldiers grew nervous and when they hear the word "fire" they thought it was their leader and then they shot and killed 5 people. -
Boston Tea Party
A group of guys blackened their faces and dressed up as mowhawk indians and boarded three ships. They worked about three hours straight opening the containers of tea and dumping them into the harbor. It turned the harbor black. -
Justice Act
The Justice Act said that, if the British were accused of murdering or harming the colonists they were sent back to brittan and trialed. If they were found guilty then they were "outcasted" and repositionedto a different place that could have been alot nicer. At least thats what the colonists believed.
