Proclamation of 1763
This proclamation closed off the frontier to colonial expansion. Many in the colonies felt that the object keep them on the East coast to be regulated easily. This made the colonists see how salutary neglect and the lack of representation affects the way they feel towards Britain.

The Sugar Act
A law passed by the British Parliament in 1764 raising duties on foreign refined sugar imported by the colonies so as to give British sugar growers in the West Indies a monopoly on the colonial market. The Stamp Act

Townshend Revenue Act

The Boston Tea Party

The Battles of Lexington and Concord
Fought in Middlesex County, Province of Massachusetts Bay, within the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy, and Cambridge, near Boston. The battles marked the outbreak of open armed conflict between the Kingdom of Great Britain and its thirteen colonies in the mainland of British North America.

Olive Branch Petition
This was an attempt to assert the rights of the colonists while maintaining their loyalty to the British crown. King George refused to read the petition and on August 23 proclaimed that the colonists had "proceeded to open and avowed rebellion."
