End of the French and Indian War
The French and Indian War ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. As a result, Britain gained some land that was east of the mississippi river. The war also caused Britain financial damage which could have contributed to the taxes, etc. that were imposed. Sources:

Pontiac's Rebellion
Also known as Pontiac's War. It began when Native americans attacked many British settlements and ports. This mainly happened because some Native American tribes were not satisfied with the polocies that the British had imposed. Sources:

The Sugar Act
The Sugar Act reduced taxes on molasses, but it listed more foods to be taxed. The act caused a chain of situations that ultimately lead to a problem with the colonies economy because markets that the colonies could sell to and the amount of money they could earn for the purchase of British made goods was reduced. The Currency Act
The act prohibited the issuing of new bills and enforced a "hard currency" system. Great Britain also took control of the colonial currency system. The colonies were not happy with the decision to use the hard surrency system because it would further their debt with Great Britain. Sources:

The Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was Great Britain forst serious attempt to gain authority over the American colonies. The act made colonist pay a tax on every peice of printed paper they used. Colonist were upset that the standard for the act was set so small. Sources:

The Quartering Act
This act was part of the Intolerable Acts and its purpose was to take back the American colonies. This act said that British troops would be housed in American barricks but if the number of soldiers outnumbered the housing available then the troops would be quartered in Inns, ale houses, etc. Sources:

The Townshend Act
The Townshend Act impsed taxes on glass, paint, oil, lead, paper and tea. Colonist had the same reaction to this act as they did with the Stamp Act. As a result of this act, crowds mobbed the customs office in Boston. Sources:

The Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was the killing of five men by the british troops, which was a result of the peak of military-civilian tension that had been growing since 1768. What happened was troops were in Boston to keep everything in order with the colonist after the taxation imposed because of the Townshend Act. Sources:

The Tea Act
The Tea Act was designed to help the British East Indian Company, which was having financial problems and had a surplus of tea in its warehouses. The tea was sold at bargain prices in the American colonies. Colonist were upset with the act becuase it supported the Townshend tax on tea. Sources:

The Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Act was when a group of Boston colonist boarded ships that contained tea. They destroyed the tea and dumped it into the Boston Harbor. Parliament responded to the Boston Tea Party with the Intolerable Acts. The colonist responded to the Intolerable Acts with protest, which escalated and the American Revolutionary War began. Sources:

Declaration of Independence
The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776. It stated that the American colonies considered themselves as independent states. The Declaration of Independence was on of the events that sparked the Revolutionary War. Sources:
