    WWII was a large event for many different industries, but it had a big impact on the TV industry. The technology created during the way for military and government communications, would become pivotal for the evolution toward the Golden Age of TV. Once the war was over, the technology used became open to the public, and that was able to further the uses of TV.

    The Civil Rights Movement had many pivotal moments that were broadcast on TV. From events surrounding Martin Luther King Jr, to the murder of Emmett Till, all of these events were displayed through television.

    Black & White --> Color TV
    During the Golden Age of TV, black and white programming transitioned to be in color. This improved the quality of viewings, and created a whole new market for color TV technology.

    "I Love Lucy" Reruns
    "I Love Lucy" was a show in the 1950s centered around a couple and their friends. It became so popular that it even had it's own merchandise line. In 1955, it would become the first TV show to broadcast reruns. After that, there would be secondary shows following the characters.

    The assassination of JFK was a deeply sad event in our country. It was also one of the first opportunities that we as a country got to experience grief together. Grief floated through our country as the news was spread through TV.
