The Iroquois and Algonquoins
-The Iroquois lived down South, the Algonquins lived up North.
-The Iroquois lived in long houses and the Algonquins lived in tipis.
-The Iroquois are sedintary and the Algonquins are nomad.
-The Iroquois farmed and the Algonquind hunted. -

-It was placed where the river narrowed and was a great trading post. -
Jean Talon
Jean talon was told by the king of france to increase the population of N-f and this is what he did:
-He offered free land to soldiers who stayed in N-F after they had finished their service
-He then brought "les filles dus roi" to N-F
-He gave payments to couples who married young
-He fined fathers of unmarried girls.
-He fined bachelors over 21 -

Slavery
-In 1767 a cencus in Nova Scotia showed that there were 104 black slaves living in british regions of Canada
-In 1843 slavery was abolished by the British Parliament's Slavery Abolishment Act. -
British Immigration
After the Revolutionary war in America the loyalists came up to Canada. Some of the loyalist came to quebec and the English population went from 1% to 10% -
Irish Immigration
-A lot of people immigrated to canada from ireland because of the potato famine
-Many of them got sick on the boat so they were quarantined on Grosse-ile -
