    Washington wanted us to stay neutral in the war between Britain and France. We didn't get involved in that war but it caused us to get in another war.

    Alien and Sedition acts
    In 1798 America made acts to deal with foreigners being deported. A lot of states created new laws opposing the acts as a violation of freedom.
  • War with Tripoli

    America bought land from France for 15 Million dollars. We called it the Louisiana Purchase. It resulted in the U.S. doubling it's land area.

    Britain and France were having a war that we wanted to stay neutral in. Britain wanted us to side with them and when we didn't they got mad which resulted in war between the U.S. and Britain. After the war the U.S. got more of an identity for itself and more independence from Europe.

    If any European Monarchy wanted to attack the Americas the U.S. would respond. This event helped shape American foreign policies.

    America made taxes to protect Northern states from foreign competition. The taxes made people from the south pay more for manufactured goods

    Americans wanted Indian people to move farther to the West. American ended up getting more land but in the process thousands of Indians suffered and died.
