    Alien and Sedation Acts
    President John Adams created multiple laws on citizenship and deportation in 1798. This law resulted in many angry citizens and the states opted to created laws against this.

  • War with Tripoli

    War with Tripoli
    U.S. ships paid a set fee to Tripoli for protection from "pirates". When Tripoli raised this fee, Thomas Jefferson refused to pay it. Tripoli declared war on May 14th, 1801. The naval war commenced on for another 4 years when America emerged victorious in June of 1805. As a result America's navy increased in sized.

    Louisanna Purchase
    Thomas Jefferson purchases land from France in 1803 at 3 cents an acre. With the land of the U.S. nearly doubled Jefferson hires Lewis & Clark to explore the newly purchased land. Their expedition is guided by Sacajawea to the shores of the Pacific in November of 1805.

    War of 1812
    A war that America refused to be apart of was being fought overseas between the countries of Britain/France.Britain was angry that the US wouldn't become involved so they captured American sailors for their own Navy and helped fuel tensions between Native Americans and Settlers.James Madison, fed up with this, declared war on Britain.This resulted in several government buildings to be burnt including the White House.It ended in 1814 and the "Star Spangled Banner" was born.

    James Monroe put the ka-bosh down on threats made by European countries to newly independent countries in Latin America. In this policy Monroe sets the course towards peace in American policy by promising a strong response to any foreign country that dares to disturb the peace in the western hemisphere.

    John Quincy Adams placed a tax on foreign goods to keep American companies in business. Southern states had few factories though, and were paid less for their raw materials (cotton).

    Trail Of Tears
    Andrew Jackson issues an order to remove all Native Americans from their land stipulated in treaties. The states were the first to put this act into motion by seizing land in violation of treaties. When the president passed their proposed law of moving the tribes 2,000 miles away to Oklahoma 4,000 Cherokee died on their way. Of these, was a famous warrior who had fought alongside A.J. himself.
