The event that started it all.
Two white males and two females were walking on a train and one stepped on Haywood Patterson's hand. A stone-throwing fight between the group of boys and Patterson's group and won the fight. All but one was forced off the train and those who were off told the stationmaster in Stevenson that the black group attacked him and his comrades. The group of African American boys were then arrested on the train, and eventually would become the Scottsboro Boys.

The boys are tried and sentenced to death while the Scottsboro boys protest against their sentences, but fail. The trial of Roy Wright ends in a mistrial when some jurors hold out for a death sentence even though the prosecution asked for life imprisonment.
