Plymouth Colony

  • Why they left England.

    The Pilgrims left England so they could find a place where they can practice their religion freely. The Pilgrims were a group of separatists. England's teachings of religion didn't feel right to the Pilgrims, so they practiced their own religion.     The Pilgrims had no choice but too leave England.

    100 men, women,& children left for the new world. They boarded a ship called " The Mayflower ". The left Southampton August 5, 1620.
  • On the sea's

    Many people aboard the Mayflower died,& one baby was born.
  • The alliance

    The pilgrims & the Indians formed an alliance. During Thanksgiving, They both sat down during the feast. The most well known Indian was Squanto.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    The Mayflower Compact was written on November 20, 1620 by William Bradford. The Mayflower compact was the first written government for Plymouth.
  • Landing

    They anchored at Plymouth Rock. Explorer John Smith had named the place Plymouth.

    Many people did not survive the first winter.
  • Decline

    Fur trade helped the colony Boom. After a couple months , the fur trade disappeared. The colony began to decline. It became a ghost town by the mid 1640's .
