History of PlayStation
The PlayStation is a home video game console developed and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was first released on 3 December 1994 in Japan, on 9 September 1995 in North America, on 29 September 1995 in Europe, and on 15 November 1995 in Australia, and was the first of the PlayStation lineup of video game consoles. As a fifth generation console, the PlayStation primarily competed with the Nintendo 64 and the Sega Saturn. -
The First PlayStation
The catalyst for the PlayStation 1 actually spawned from a failed partnership with Nintendo, when Sony was in talks with building an add-on for the Super Nintendo. The PlayStation would go on to feature a dual-speed CD-ROM drive, a one-core CPU that had 2MB of RAM along with 1MB of video RAM. It went on to become the first video game console to ship more than 100 million units. You can only communicate on this console through messages and games. -

The Evolution of PlayStations Communication Technology
The first couple of PlayStations communication abilities were not too advanced seeing how the only thing you could do on them is message your friends. Then the PS3 was released and the was a significant advancement, the ability to talk to your friends. This feature is now a thing on all PlayStation devices and is a major evolution to today’s society. -
The PlayStation 2
The PlayStation 2 is a video game console developed and marketed by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was first released in Japan on March 4, 2000, in North America on October 26, 2000. This PlayStation is the successor to the original PlayStation, as well as the second installment in the PlayStation console line-up. A sixth-generation console, it competed with Sega's Dreamcast, Nintendo's GameCube, and Microsoft's original Xbox. You can only contact people through messages on this console. -
The PSP
With two successful home consoles under its belt, changing handheld gaming was the next frontier. Enter a pocket-sized powerhouse that could play games, movies, music and browse the internet, the PSP. The PlayStation Pro is a mobile device similar to a console only it is handheld. PlayStation 3
All the elements which made PS2 a world beater provided a powerful cornerstone for PlayStation 3. High Definition became standard with the integrated Blu-ray Disc player, while an internal hard disc drive and versatile online functionality brought a wealth of entertainment services to your home. PS3 still did not have the advancements to communicate to people through the microphone. -
PlayStation Network and Store
The arrival of PlayStation Network introduced the hub that has since become essential for online gaming, music, movies, TV, online communication and more. While PlayStation Store quickly also became the one-stop hub for downloading and pre-ordering PlayStation games. PlayStation network introduced the world to something completely new, talking through a gaming console. These were new online features added to any console above the PS3 -
The PSVITA
Becoming the most powerful handheld console on the market when it was released, PlayStation Vita featured a sparkling five-inch OLED touch screen, alongside two full analogue sticks (a first for any handheld games console), and a rear touch pad for additional control. You can communicate on this device through an application called the “party”. You may talk to anyone you’d like on this device. -
The PS4
The eight generation of video games erupted into life with a powerhouse system capable of high dynamic range (HDR) for vibrant visuals, integrated streaming and social media features for instantly sharing your best (or worst) gaming moments, and the most comfortable DUALSHOCK controller yet. This is easily the most groundbreaking device socially wise. One of the main reason people like to play the PS4 is because you can talk to up to 16 friends at a time while playing video games.
