The First to Go
The first problem they were faced with was the harrasment of a man on board the Mayflower. The entire crew was bullied and pushed aroud by this man. no one cared for him because of what he did, and how he treated his fellow ship members. Ironically he was the first one to die. They ended up dumping the body over board, feeling that this was Gods doing, for the way he had acted. -
The Unrelenting Storms
During the middle of the ships track across the ocean, storms began to emerge one after another. The 120 passerngers on the ship were scared and had no idea what they were in for. Suddenly one storm was too much for the Mayflower, the crosswinds cracked a main beam and caused a leak on the upper deck. After assesing the damages they were not about to give up. Being that they were already half way there they decided to push on. -
Land Ho! But Where to Go?
The pilgrims frist spotted land on Novermber 9, 1620. This was Prestent time Cape Cod. They knew that this was not where they intended to arrive and decided to head south in hopes of making it to there desired destination. However, as they began to travel south they came apon more storms which kept them from going anyfarthe without destroying the ship. After descussion they felt it would be better to turn around and not risk the chance of losing their ship. -
Successfully Executed
Finally after 66 days on the rough, unforgiving waters of the Atlantic Ocean they set foot on land. After a day of discussion on where they should make camp, they began to set up right where thay had arrived. Their problems were not over however. Allthough they successfully made it, they still had no idea of where they were and who or what was around them. They needed to become aware of their surroundings and start to collect important information on the land and its features.
