After bieng on the road for a while they have realised that there are no living things in this post apocalyptic world. -

The father has alot of love for his son, staying by his side all the time. -
The father returning to his house
This is one of the key episodes during the book. The father returning to his house he grew up in. in this episode we get a real sense of what the boy is capable of because as the father is walking round his old house the boy is constantly going "I'm scared" or "maybe we should leave" -
The Coca-Cola episode
The boy haas no colour in his life, no taste, no smells. when he drank coca-cola for the first time it was the first time in his life that he experienced colour. -
Their battle witth the cold
The father and the boy have to battle with the cold throughout the book, they have to travel across a mountain range covered in snow. This is my interpritation of the mountains. by paul bica Attribution License -
The boy plays with his toy truck
The boy plays with his truck after finding it in the cart. -
The encounter with the roadrat
The father and boy encounter a group of roadrats looking to kill other people for their meat. The man eventually has to kill the roadrat to save his son and their possesions are stolen. -

The man struck by lightning

Joy and relief
When the boy and father find the bunker full of supplies, they feel relief because if they hadn't found the food they would of died. -
The sighting of the boy
The sighting of the boy is a big issue, it is the only other human that theboy has ever seen apart from his parents, it will stick with him for the rest of his life -
The human larder
This is probably the most horrific scene in the road. In the cupboard of a house the boy and father found humans, naked, in chains, stored for other human's consumption. -
The meeting with Ely
The boy and father meet an old man along the road called Ely, although the man is very cautious incase it is a trick, the boy cares for him offers him food and lets him sleep for the night -
The beach
The father and boy finally reach the beach, although it's not what the boy expects, he dreams that the sea is blue, but of course like everything else in this world, it is grey. by Linda Cronin Attribution License
