The present bridge was opened in 1971, called San Remo because it spans between San Remo and Newport. It was created beause it was stronger and could carry more load that the old one, which was failing the support the load needed to carry the influx of tourists -
No penguin killed by foxes for the second year in a row
A team of scientists stepped in to help the penguins and save the island's tourist econmy and managed to have two years straight without having a penguin killed by foxes
