The Maguindanao Massacre happened when victims on thier way to file a certificate of candidacy for the vice mayor of Bulvan (Mangudadatu), were kidnapped and brutally killed. 58 people were killed, including Mangudadatu's wife, friends, lawyers, and other relatives. The victims relatives blamed the rival clan for the attack.
