His contribution to science included the idea that all living beings have descended from similar ancestors, which is a now a popularly accepted theory by scientist and society today. -

His theory proposed that “survival of the fittest” was key to evolution, which means that only the successful genetics for survival pursued on to later generations and the successful would eventually die out. This was important to evolution because it explain the significant changes in species and in some cases extinction. -
