While not much information is cited to his early life. Bas van Frassen is a modern day philosopher and has worked for universities and colleges across the United States since the 1980's. Bas van Frassen has taught at Yale, Princeton, and most recently San Francisco State University. -
Contributions
van Frassen's most significant contributions to the Philosophy of Science was having resurrected anti-realitism in the field. His works in the field have published since the 1980's with regards to a movement that was often regarded as dead in the field of science philosophy. -
Constructive Empiricism
Bas van Frassen is considered the revivalist of the anti-realism movement. Philosophy of Science is often considered to fall into the divide of realists and anti-realists. Anti-realists leaning heavily into an empiricist's approach to science. For many modern scientists the thought of this divide was considered small. -
The Scientific Image
In his first book the Scientific Image. van Fraaseen sparks his emipricist revolution stating under the premise that "the role of science is to create theories that are useful in predictions about the observable world". -
