    Battle Of Marathon
    The Persian Empire attacked Greece with a massive army! The Athenians were outnumbered and could not rely on Sparta to send reinforcements. The Persians were already upset with Athens because of the Ionian Revolt. Greece won because of their unique and skilled attack. They knew the Persian army was stronger in the centre so they attacked there first.
    This picture depicts the number battle. Clearly, Greece was not a big army. Persia had numbers and weapons which assisted in their force.

    Battle of Thermopylae

    Battle of Thermopylae
    The Persian army was had about 180,00 men with 1200 ships. The Greeks decided to be defensive in this battle. With the help of Sparta, the Greeks went into battle. A Greek traitor made the Persians aware of Greek battle strategies. This resulted in the Greeks losing the element of surprise! Therefore, the Greeks lost this battle.
    This picture shows the Persians marching victoriously. The Greeks were defeated and wee left vulnerable. The picture also shows the numbers that Persia had.

    Battle of Salamis
    Athens was evacuated and the people went to Salamis. The Persians burned Athens. This battle was a victory for the Greeks. Due to their knowledge of their geography, the Greeks were able to lure the Persians into a narrow passageway where all the Persian ships were trapped and attacked. Greece had a homecourt advantage!
    This picture shows the unique strategy used by the Greeks known as Triremes. This way, they were able to ram into the Persian ships. This lead to the victory of Greece.

    Formation of the Delian League

    Formation of the Delian League
    The Delian League consisted of 150 city-states that would continue to fight against the struggle from the Persians. City-states involved would give money or ships to remain in the league. Also, Athens orchestrated the League and used the money for defence as well as to build monuments.
    The picture shows the city-states that were a part of the Delian League. This League does not last, however many city-states did get involved in it. The areas in blue are the city-states that are apart of it.
