4:00 am Submarine Spotting
The people that were surveying the area realized that something was out of sorts. The officer saw something in the distance and noticed that it was a submarine, and knew that subs were not supposed to be in the area. He put in a blinker-light message to the Ward that there was a submarine in the area. -
6:10 am Japanese Take Off
183 fighters, bombers, and torpedo planes take off to make their way towards Pearl Harbor. They use a Honolulu radio station as a guide to make sure that they are still on track. The planes are led by Comrade Mitsuo Fuchida. -
7:02 am Planes Sighted on Radar
Two privates on duty notice 50 aircraft carriers that are heading for Oahu. They send out an alert, but they are supposed to be getting some planes in from the mainland, so nothing is really done about it. -
7:33 am Alert From Washington
President Franklin D. Roosevelt and General George C. Marshall get a message from Japan that they believe to mean war. They send an alert to Lieutenant Walter C. Short, who was the commander of the U.S. Army Forces in Hawaii. It goes via commercial telegraph. Unfortunately, it doesn't reach there until 11:45 am, so it didn't give Hawaii any warning. -
7:55 am Attack Begins
Comrade Logan C. Ramsey notices a low flying plane, and thinks at first that it is just a beginner pilot. Then he notices a black thing fall from it and knows that it's a bomb. He orders the telegraph officers to send out a message to all of the ships and planes. The message said AIR RAID ON PEARL HARBOR X THIS IS NOT A DRILL. The Japanese want to destroy the aircraft, so they go for the planes that are on the ground. -
8:10 am Arizona Sinks
A bomb, that was dropped from a high-altitude bomber, hits the forward deck of the U.S.S. Arizona. It created a huge fireball, and killed 1,177 men. A man from the battleship Nevada said that he saw the Arizona "jump at least 15 or 20 feet upward in the water and sort of break in two". It only takes the Arizona nine minutes to fall to the bottom of the ocean. -
8:50 am Battleship Nevada is Bombed
The Battleship Nevada heads out the the sea, but it didn't make it far. The Japanese noticed the American flag, and goes in for the kill. They try to bomb it so they can sink it, but the Nevada knows that it would be best to just take cover so it doesn't clog up the channel. It stops and stays at Hospital Point. -
8:54 am Second Wave
The second wave of aircraft from Japan is now in full attack mode. It consisted of 35 fighters, 78 dive-bombers, and 54 high-altitude bombers. They attack the navy dry dock, and hit the battleship Pennsylvania. Another bomb hits oil tanks that are in the area. Bombs also hit the Raleigh, which had already been hit in the first wave. -
10:00 am Attack Ends
The Japanese decide against a third strike, because they rule the mission successful. Out of all of the aircraft from the Japanese, 29 are lost. The attack is officially over. With a lot of casualties, totaling up to 2,390 men, it becomes chaos. Trucks become ambulances, and the hospitals don't have enough room. Out of all the ships sunk that day, except for the Arizona, Utah, and Oklahoma, they will all sail again. -

1:10 pm Declaration of War
On this day, one day after the sneak attack, the U.S. declared war on Japan. The House of Representatives all came together, and seemed to agree on one thing. What happened to the United States, was not okay, and something needed to be done about it. The House declared war at 1:10 pm on December 8th, with a vote of 388 to 1.
