Japenese Admiral Chuichi Nagumo makes final preparations for the attack on Pearl Harbor. He leads his huge fleet of 20 ships, including 6 aircraft carriers and 414 total war planes. -
"Climb Mount Niitaka"
Admiral Nagumo recieves a message saying "climb Mt. Niitaka"
which means "proceed with the attack. Mt. Niitaka is the highest peak in Taiwan which Japan had territorial control in 1941. -
Radar Mistake
At 7:00 AM, two radar operators detect a large number of incoming planes. They chose to ignore it, because a U.S. squad of planes were expected to arrive that soon. -
