    Also known as the Indian intercourse, in 1809 was when congress replaced the embargo act. Also was the last four days for Jefferson's presidency. The reason why they had done this was for Great Britain and France which effected there way to sell goods.This all ended up seizing American Ships.

    George Washington was elected in 1789 as the first president of the United States. For most Americans the decision was obvious to elect Washington. Washington was elected president after the US made our new constitution. The election was not a legitimate election because our country was not fully developed.

    Federalists pushed several laws through congress during the crisis with france.The presdident could order any alien, or foreigner, to leave if he thought they were a threat to the country. This made it much harder for immigrants to become citizens of the US. The alien act also kept the immigrants from voting.

    The first congress meeting took place in New York City. There, Congress began to stress the need for a bill of rights. Multiple states had ratified the Constitution while recommending that they desperately needed a bill of rights. The first congress made 12 amendments. These were written by james Madison. Three fourths of the states ratified 10 of the 12 amendments that were proposed by december 1791. These amendments were later known as the bill of rights.

Then a loss in federal money hurt the Bank of the United States. Then an economic crisis occurred due to the closing of the Bank.
