    This storm left Houston, Texas in ruins. Storm Allison caused flooding that got to be 40 inches high. Allison flooded 70,000 houses and wrecked 2,744 homes. 30,000 people were left homeless.     This was an unmanned space craft that studied and collected data from mars. The spacecraft arrived on jupiter on December 7th. At first it had antenna problems but was still able to discover the first asteroid moon.     Roper v. Simmons
    This was a trial where the U.S. Supreme Court decided that anyone who was under the age of 18 when they committed their crime could not receive the death penalty. The reason being that anyone under 18 is not a legal adult and cannot think things through as well as an adult.     The Red Lake Shootings in Minnesota
    16-year-old Jeffrey Weise first killed his grandfather and his grandfather's girlfriend. He then, took his grandfather's police weapons and vest. He drove to Red Lake Senior High School, where he had been a student. Weise shot students, teachers, and a security guard at the school.     This space probe was launched as a part of NASA's New Frontiers program. The New Horizons spacecraft's main mission to perform was a flyby study of the Pluto system. The secondary mission was to fly by and study other Kuiper belt objects. Cape Canaveral Air Force Station was where the New Horizons spacecraft was launched.     The military accidentally kills nine civilians in a raid in Iraq.
    On February 2nd nine Iraqi civilians were killed by the U.S. military during an operation targeting al-Qaeda in Iraq. The civilians were mistaken for members of al-Qaeda. Three of the suspects were just wounded and taken to the hospital. The victims had been in a house in the village of Tal al-Samar which had previously been bombed.     During this time the S&P 500 lost about 50% of its value. The DJIA, adjusted for the splits of 30 large companies. These companies were all on the New York Stock Exchange.     The OAS is an intercontinental organization founded April 30th 1948. The purpose of the organization was for there to be regional solidarity and cooperation among the states. The OAS is headquartered in Washington, D.C. Honduras was suspended from the OAS due to political challenges because they refused to reinstate President Zelaya.     My Dog, Jack Bauer McGee
    After going through the hard times of our yellow lab Duncan passing, a couple months later we decided to get another dog. Our new dog, Bauer, brought joy back into our lives (even though he jumps up on the couch and eats from our trashcan). Our lives wouldn't be nearly as fulfilling without him. He is super loyal and shows me how to be a good friend and love everyone (except squirrels and bald men with sunglasses - he thinks it my dad and gets confused).

    The United States and United Kingdom decided to do this because of the security threats that kept coming from al-Qaeda. The threats were that al-Qaeda was planning to Sanaa and possibly the embassy. The closing of the embassy was to ensure the safety of the people.   • Girls Rock Philly

    Girls Rock Philly
    Girls Rock Philly is a music program I participated in over the summer where I "kind of" learned to play the bass guitar. I say "kind of" because i was awful at it and never touched another bass again. But the entire experience helped me explore different genres of music. I also got to perform on stage and had a song played on the radio which really helped me realize that music would be a really fun and interesting career path.

    i had bad friends who didn't treat me very well. However, I learned how to stand up to them and leave my toxic friendships behind. This helped me to be the person I am today because after going through that I am a much stronger, independent person. Also a lot of silly bands and erasers were traded. (P.S. my google search for this image was "cool kids with silly bands.")

    I had trouble paying attention and my ADD is why. I was diagnosed in second grade but managed to get through elementary school with some strategies and support. But in junior high, things became a bit more complicated. The fact that I had trouble paying attention often really got me down. I started to take medicine in 9th grade, and work became easier to handle.(i still slip up from time to time but who doesn't.) I was able to stop getting so angry with myself.

    The day I saw my favorite band in concert was definitely memorable. I went with my best friend and we sang along to the songs, singing the lyrics that had touched us and meant so much to us. Their music helped me a lot when I felt down so being there at their concert was crazy for me. I cried multiple times and had the time of my life.

    Over the summer, I purchased my very own ukulele. i had been wanting one for a really long time so I saved up my work money and bought one myself. it has helped learn about figuring out priorities, saving money, and getting better at my talents.

    I went with my family over the summer. We visited my cousins who recently moved there. It really helped us appreciate the time we got with them. Also we learned to appreciate our closer family members. Also I got to try In N Out burger, and it's amazing.

    School Of Rock (S.O.R)
    S.O.R is yet another music program that I started doing. it helps me keep my dreams of being a musician alive. It is definitely a level up from Girls Rock Philly because I feel like I'm treated like more of an adult at S.O.R. It also has helped me meet great, talented, new people that I wouldn't have met otherwise.
