    By bringing up the realization that the idea of "separate but equal" was in fact not "inherently equal", the Supreme Court ruling making segregation illegal was enacted. This brings more opportunities for the minorities present in our society. Although the law did not fully fix the issue at hand, this was a huge step towards educational equality in the United States.

    By creating a list of requirements, needs that need to be met and services that are readily available to those who are within the definition of a "child with disabilities", ensured proper treatment and education within schools. By ensuring that certain needs are met, created an environment of equal opportunity of education, no matter what disability. This created a way for all children to have an opportunity for a quality education in an inclusive way integrating all ability levels.

    The report A Nation at Risk, was highly controversial but it had an influenced policy makers to make changes. These changes increased public schools accountability and rigor. The resulting standardized test were implemented in public schools set the basis for minimum competency and graduation requirements and test similar to these are seen in public schools today.

    When the No Child Left Behind Act was implemented, influential changes were put in place to hold accountability to the unequal achievement among students. The basis that was set is still present today with the promises of highly qualified teachers, making necessary changes to benefit the achievement of students and the testing used to show academic progress. This ensures no students are left in the dust and receive a quality education.

    When the Common Core Standards were released in March of 2010, the basis was set for public education. Having a consistent and easily understandable "blueprint" of what was expected of students to be able to prepare them for further education makes sure that all students have the means to be on track and substantially educated. By providing this to parents and educators this can be influential in helping the success rate in the K-12 public education.
