Paul Feyerabend, January 13, 1924 – February 11, 1994

  • Against Method

The against method shows how science is often not going to be accepted as instead of offering flaws in a theory, there is instead more of a battlefield of prejudices to go through. He then argues that science should not only be about evidence and fact-based but also deal with the sociological point of science as well. It relies on the idea of convincing others to accept a theory. The context of accept here is almost to want others to put down their idea and actually inspect an idea.
  • Science in a Free Society

Science in a free society was a work that Paul Feyerabend wrote in order to clap back at all of the criticism he was receiving on the book. Then he goes on to criticize how the West does its own science and how although democracy is preached, democracy is there just to conceal entrenched prejudice and divided opinions of the scientific community. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oovqaJSOVLc
  • Farewell to Reason

Here Paul Feyerabend starts off by distinguishing absolutism and relativism. He then makes the argument that science shouldn't be given more power than tradition and that they should all be equally funded. He also goes on to tie relativism and politics, still going back to the funding issue so that all of tradition and science may develop. He finally argues that philosophy should be abandoned and replaced by participation in a particular tradition.
  • Tyranny of Science

In this book, Paul Feyerabend argues on some modern myths about science such as how science is successful. He also argues that science should be used to help with todays problems that are pressing. He also argues on how basic assumptions have severely hindered our conception of science, his main example being the nature of human life. He essentially is arguing that practical experience is better than any theory.
