All throughout the war Rommel was respected for multiple things on both sides of the battle field, he had brilliant military tactics, was concerned of his soldiers, gave his POWs humane conditions, and most uniquely denied orders to kill jewish civillians. This respect would quickly die out with the Nazi Regime when he was connected to a plot to assassinate Aldolf Hitler.
