    Organize and analyze data

One of my first jobs out of college was to "cleanup" name and address data. This meant I had to organize all the data sources coming in, analyze the files, run processes to prepare the files and then write the jcl code to get the file to the next step.

In 2007 I switched careers. I had been an Account Manager for a Database Marketing company and I was going to be a teacher. It was a different world. Instead of dealing with a team of adults, I would be dealing with 5th graders. I had to adjust and with help from co-workers and my classmates at the time, it worked out great.
  • Persistence in working with difficult problems

Persistence in working with difficult problems
The first year of teaching is the most difficult, in my opinion. I had a difficult group of 5th graders (for a private school too). I had one particularly difficult child in that class who had anger issues. She would throw objects and sometimes cuss at me. Not normal at our school. She and I worked through some of her issues together. This year she has graduated college and wants to be a teacher, in part due to our school and all we did for her.
