Proclamation of 1763
The proclamation of 1763 prohibited people from buying land westward from the Appalachian Mountains. In response to this the colonists were angered and they defied it. -
Sugar Act
The sugar Act imposed charges on goods and services being imported to the colonies. In response to the sugar act colonists organized a way to get their own goods and smuggled some. -
Currency Act
The Currency Act prohibited the government from making money in paper and made sure everyone only used British currency. In response to this act the colonists protested against taxation without correct and proper representation. -
Quartering Act 1765
The Quartering Act made it to that if there was an empty home that a British soldier would be placed there, and that we must provide them with supplies needed. In response to this act, the colonists were angered because they didnt want to have to house soldiers and be taxed. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act required a stamp on everything to make people spend money to help them repay the debt of the war. If you didnt pay for the stamp then you was subject to death. In response to this act colonists boycotted and this started the lead to the revolution. -
Declaratory Act
The declaratory act was an act passed to allow laws to be made to govern the colonists. The colonists despised this act and they protested and pushed to get it repealed. -
Townshend Act
The townshend act was when the colonies made their services grow largely, and they imposed many new duties on items such as glass, lead, paint and tea. In response to the act colonists once again protested on the issue of taxation without represrentation. -
Boston Massacre
The Boston Massacre was when a British captain and his soldiers fired, killed, and wounded colonists in Boston. In response to the Boston Massacre colonists were angered about the killing of innocent people and they protested for independence. -
Boston Tea Party
The Boston Tea Party was commited after the tea act imposing rules on tea. Colonists in Boston gathered on a boat and dumped 342 canisters of tea into the harbor. The act itself was the Tea Act and in response was the Boston Tea Party itself. The people also started resisting because of the fury. -
Intolerable Act
The intolerable acts were laws passed just to punish the people who took place in the Boston Tea Party. In response to this the colonists boycotted against the First Continental Congress. -
Quartering Act 1774
This quartering act did the same as the last one but on a bigger scale and instead of civilians they had the legislatures find homes. The response to this act was the same as the last one, they resented it. -
Quebec Act
The Quebec Act is an act that established catholic religion to expand. The people responded to this act with fear of catholicism spreading.
