One Hundred men team from U.S checks up on Panama Canal for a likely Canal route. They think that this will be very expensive. Especially the thought of having twelve lock and it being ten miles long. -

December 30, 1879
For the rights of Colombia the Panama region started construction. This adding a forty meter Dam. Also adding a twenty four meter path to go through the Culebra Cut. -
March 1883
The French team is falling behind on their schedule with only 660,000 cubic meters of earth removed from the canal area. Even though the the Emperor requested to have 1 million cubic meters. They have fallen behind by 340,000 million cubic meters. -
Early 1884
The workers have found the Yellow Fever. That year was rough with 400 workers death from disease, mostly yellow fever. After that, three hundred french workers asked to go home and their request was denied. -
May 3, 1885
The Panama Soldiers killed 25 Jamaicans. This causes the Jamaicans to leave and go home. That Summer only 8 million cubic meters was evacuated out of the 120 needed. -
February 17, 1886
De Lesseps infers that the canal will be finished by July 1889. Two months after that a french engineer will put in the report to send to the government. That concluded the that the completion of the canal will be possible. -
January 1888
De Lesseps becomes frustrated and hires a new guy named Gustav Eiffel. He will construct locks that will be temporary. This would be a good solution while constructing sea level evacuation. -
May 1908
The canal zone is improved. This brings in a lot of families to Panama. Now over 1000 workers and families now live in or around the Panama canal. -
Fall 1911
The locks of Pedro Miguel are complete. The tourism starts at the end of the year. With over 15000 tourist coming to visit the Panama Canal. -
June 27, 1913
Finally the Gatun Dam is complete. Now the spillway gates are closed off. The lakes fills it to its full amount. -
1914
The canal is finally finished. A crane boat named Alexandre La Valley becomes the first boat to travel through the Panama canal.
