War between the French and the english with the native americans supporting the French. English used the colonists as cannon fodder. -
Proclamation of 1763
Prohibited settlement in the area west of the Appalachians. -
Sugar Act
Tax placed on sugars. The British hoped that the act would force colonists to sell their goods to Britain instead of selling them to other countries. -
Stamp Act
The Stamp Act was passed in order to pay off the debt from the 7 years war. It taxed nearly all paper goods including things like playing cards and mortgages. This was the first direct tax on the colonists. -
Townshend Act
Taxed glass, lead, paper, tea, and paint. -
Boston Massacre
A crowd of about sixty townspeople antagonized a squad of ten redcoats. They redcoats open fired and harmed 11 people. -
Boston Tea Party
Sam adams and the sons of liberty dumped tea into the boston harbor to protest the tax. -
Intolerable Acts
A lot of acts passed by Parliament designed to chastise Massachuestts, but Boston more specifically. Closed Boston harbor. -
Battles of Lexington and Concord
Colonists and English troops fight.
