Overdubbing is when the music would be played and then recorded into another machince. -

A new way of capturing sound came along Magnetic tapes. Tape recorders do not use a stylus instead motorized reels feed tape coded with magnetic over a device known as a recoreding head. -
Multitrack Recording
In 1950 '54 the multitrack recording started using tracks. 2 tracks, 8 tracks and so on. The more tracks the more beats in the music. -
