As a consequence of the World War 2 Germany was divided in two global blocs, the East and the West, by a huge wall. The cold war devided Germany in the Allies in the Federal Republic of Germany (FGR) and the Germany Democratic Republic (GDR). The Berlin Wall existed from 1961 to 1989. -

Germany got seperated
Germany got seperated into DDR and BRD because the Cold War divided Germany between the Allies in the west and Soviets in the east.
DDR means Deutsche demokratische Republik (German Democratic Republic).
BRD means Bundesrepublik Deutschland (Federal Republic of Germany) -

Eurovision Song Contest
The formers Westgermany (BRD) won the 27. ESC for the first time. Nicole seibert won it with the song "Ein bisschen Frieden" and she got 61 points and had the High score. It took place in Harrogate which is a town in Nothern England. -

European Capital of Culture - The concept

FIFA World Cup
2014 Germany won the FIFA World Cup in Brazil. It was their fourth title. Germany has won the World Cup 1954, 1974 and 1990 as well.
The final game featured Germany against Argentina for a record third time after 1986 and 1990. This was the first time that teams from the same continent had won three consecutive World Cups. It was also the first time that a European nation had won the World Cup in America. -
