Sir Henry Parkes gives famous Tenterfield speech bringing Australia together to bring up the idea of a federation. -

Second draft constitution drawn up designed to replace the first one after it was not up to their standards. -
First referendum
1st referendum for the constitution defeated by the colonies of NSW and WA. NSW because people were happy as the way things were and WA because they felt that their interests would be swamped by larger colonies. -

2nd referendum for constitution passed by all colonies except for WA who agrees in 1900. -
Federation
Australia became a federation on 1901 Jan 1st and started developing the country mostly based on the British model.
