Molotov Plan is similar to the Marshall Plan except it provides aid to Eastern European countries that are economically and politically aligned t the Soviet Union. This divided Europe into two economic blos. -
Brussels Pact
NATO's predecessor, was signed by Britain, France, The Netherlands, Luxemborg and Belgium. The pact ensured that these 5 countries will help anyone of them if attacked in Europe -
Berlin Blockade
After the Britain,US and France introduced the Deutsche Mark in Germany, Stalin percieved it as an establishment of a new Germany in the West which was unacceptable. He blocked roads and rail routes to Berlin in retaliation. -

Berlin Airlift
US and Britain planes flew more than 200,000 flights to Berlin in 320 days and delivered vital supplies of coal and food to 2.2 million people. This was a success of the Containment Policy and indicated the extent the US was willing to go to contain Communism. -
Formation of NATO
An anti-soviet military alliance. However this was not very important in starting the Cold War as it provoked no direct Soviet response and not taken seriously as a military alliance until 1950. -
Warsaw Pact
The Soviet Union created the Warsaw Pact, a Communist military alliance to counter NATO.
