Optical and Magnetic History of Storage Devices

  • MAGNETIC TAPES

    MAGNETIC TAPES
Magnetic tapes are a type of data storage media that is recorded in tracks on a plastic strip with a magnetized material, usually iron oxide or some chromate. The type of information that can be stored on magnetic tapes is varied, such as video, audio and data.
  • Optical Disc

    Optical Disc
An optical disc is an optical data storage medium, consisting of a circular disc in which information is encoded, saved and stored by making microscopic grooves with a laser on one of the flat faces that compose it.
  • THE DISKETTE

    THE DISKETTE
Floppy disks have mostly been replaced by other forms of file storage such as CD/DVD-ROM drives and the common USB flash drive, but many computers can still store and access information using older disk drive technology.
  • MAGNETO-OPTICAL DISKS

    MAGNETO-OPTICAL DISKS
MO discs appeared in the late 1980s. At first they were 5.25-inch (130 mm), similar to a compact disc encapsulated inside a cartridge. Later, 3.5-inch (90 mm) disks appeared. NeXT computers were the first to offer this technology as standard, but Canon provided it to other manufacturers. In 1997, direct luminous intensity overwrite technology appeared, which increased the performance level of the discs.
  • FLASH MEMORY CARD

    FLASH MEMORY CARD
Memory card or flash memory card is the data storage medium or medium that retains data transferred and stored correctly, in the type of flash memory.it is a type of non-volatile memory, i.e. it retains data even with the loss of electrical power.
  • DVD

    DVD
DVD is a type of optical disc for data storage. The acronym DVD2 stands for Digital Versatile Disc3, so the Spanish and English acronyms coincide. Originally, the middle "V" stood for video (Digital Video Disc), due to its development as a replacement for the VHS format for home video distribution.
  • CD-RW

    CD-RW
A Compact Disc Rewritable (CD-RW) is a disc that you can erase and reuse. The data on a CD-RW disc can be erased and rewritten multiple times. NOTE: CD-RW media may not be readable outside of the drive in which it was created.
  • BLUE-RAY

    BLUE-RAY
Blu-ray Disc, known as Blu-ray or simply BD, is an optical disc format developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association, used for high-definition, 3D and UltraHD video and with greater high-density data storage capacity than DVD.
