Odysseus' Journey

    Ithaca

    Ithaca
    Odysseus finally made it back to his home. Athena disguised him as a beggar so he can remain hidden while he analyzes the loyalty of his friends and family. He confronts his son, Telemachus, and reveals his identity to him. Odysseus persuades him by saying Athena and Zeus are on their side. The next day, the enraged kin of the suitors angrily attack Odysseus. Zeus soon commands the fighting to stop. Odysseus finally reclaimed title.

    Phaeacia

    Phaeacia
    As Odysseus journeyed home on his small boat and Poseidon, still angry at him destroyed it. Odysseus eventually washed up on shore of Phaeacia. He was helped to the palace and King Alcinous heard his story. Odysseus told of his travels during the large feast that was done. Alcinous then gave Odysseus ships and a safe way home. He finally was returning to Ithaca.

    Ogygia

    Ogygia
    Odysseus was still afloat after his troubles with Scylla and Charybdis. He eventually ended up on the island of Ogygia, home of Calypso. She tried to seduce Odysseus. Calypso detained him there for seven years and offered him immortality if he would remain. Odysseus wanted to go home too badly to stay. Zeus finally freed him.

    Thrinacia

    Thrinacia
    Odysseus's next stop is Thrincia, the island of the sun gods cattle.
    A storm starts and they are here with no food. So, his men go kill the cattle. Helios is angered and the cattle, while roasting became to moo and come alive. Odysseus is left alive because Zeus knows he is not responsible. He was left on his own ships wreck. Odysseus is saved by himself by grabing hold of a fig tree and waiting for his ships surface to resurface

    The Sirens

    The Sirens
    Odysseus men then go to the sirens, the sirens sing a song that no man can resist to passing ships. Circe gives his men beeswax so they can't hear the sound. Odysseus then hears their irresistible song and struggles, but his loyal men tie him tighter. Finally they're out of range, and Odysseus commands them to remove the wax from their ears.

    Hades
    Odysseus then goes to the land of the dead after his last travel, to find Tiresias. He does find him as circe told him.Tiresias tells Odysseus to sail towards Scylla and Carybdis, but to take the route of Scylla, only six men will be lost instead of all of them.

    Aeaea
    After Odysseus's last trouble he visits the island Aeaea, he then sends some of his men in there to scout the area, his men sadly don't return. Odysseus then goes in himself, on the way he is met by Hermes. Hermes then gives him important information, that circe is ahead and his only chance of survival is to eat the plant moly.     Island of the Laestragonians
    Odysseus's next stop was the Island of the Laestragonians. Here his men were ravaged by ravenous cannibals. They ate all but one ship of Odysseus's men.

    Aeolia

    Aeolia
    Odysseus next lands on Aeolia, home of Aeolus, god of the winds. Aeolus bottles up all of the bad winds and gives Odysseus the bag filled with them. He did this to make his journey home safe. With Ithaca in sight, Odysseus's men become greedy and decide to open the bag. This causes the winds to blow them back to Aeolia. Once they return Aeolia sends them back.

    Island of the Cyclopes

    Island of the Cyclopes
    Odysseus then lands on an Island with Cyclopes. The men land here out of desparation. They need water and food. Odysseus decides to stay in the cave. Meanwhile a huge lumbering Cyclops enters the cave as they are feasting. Polyphemus, the Cyclops, eats two of Odysseus's men. Odysseus tells the Cyclops his name is Nohbdy, tricks the Cyclops, then blinds him while Polyphemus is sleeping.Then Odysseus and his men escape from the cave by hiding under Polyphemus's sheep.

    Island of the Lotus Eaters
    After the Island of the Cicones, Odysseus landed on the Island of the Lotus Eater. The lotus is a plant that makes the person lose focus on reality.Once it is eaten, the person knows nothing nor cares for anything other than eating the lotus plant.Odysseus sent in two men to scout out the area. When they did not come back, Odysseus sent in to find them. Once found Odysseus saw they were already highly attidcited to the flower, and had to tie them back onto his ship.

    Island of the Cicones
    Odysseus landed on the Island of the Cicones after the Trojan War. His men then raided the island and pillaged its luxuries. When they were looting they were attacked by the Cicones, and Odysseus lost 72 men.

    Odysseus and Troy
    Odysseus began his journey at troy, he was commanded to go fight in the Trojan war. The war raged on for 10 years, but unfortunally for Odysseus, his arrogance and lack of worship to the gods caused Poseidon to have hate towards him.
