Became a team in the American Football League
On November 22—First draft meeting was held, with first round choices composed of 8 teams 1 including the Los Angelas Raiders. -
TV contract signed
On January 29 the signed a 5 year $36 million television contract to begin the 1965 season. -
Oakland Coliseum
On February 1st the construction on the 54,000-seat Oakland Coliseum was started. It was completed September 18th, 1966. -
John Madden apointed head coach
On February 4th John Madden took head coaching job from John Rauch who later coached the Buffalo Bills. John Madden later created the hit video game Madden NFL with the 1st game ever created called ''John Madden Football'' which was released in 1988. -
First Super Bowl
On January 9th the Raiders beat the Minnesota Vikings, 32-14, in Super Bowl Xl, to win their 1st Super Bowl ever. The game was played at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena infront of a record crowd of 103,424 and a TV audience of 130 million. -
Million dollar gate
On December 18th the Raiders record first million-dollar home league game gate in NFL history when they beat the Rams, 37-31. -
Ticket Sales
On October 28th the game sold 92,469 tickets for the game between Denver And LA held in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum sets the all-time ticket sales in Raider history. -
Innovation
On February 17th the Renovation of Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum begins to provide a more "intimate" facility for the Raiders and their fans. Stadium capacity will be reduced from NFL-high 92,488 to 67,800. -
2nd biggest game
On January 19th the Raiders record their 25th postseason victory which was the most of any AFC team. In a 41-24 win over Tennessee in the AFC Championship infront of the second-largest crowd ever in Oakland postseason history with (62,544). -
Four Super-Bowl appearances in 40 years.
On January 26th the Raiders became the only team in pro football history to play in 4 Super Bowls in four different decades with an appearance in Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego. With star Rich Gannon as starting Quarterback. -
44th season opener
On September 7th the Raiders opened their 44th season in a nationally televised game at Tennessee against the Titans.
