A sabotage, during the Nazi occupation, as perhaps a punishment for the fun loving Danish citizens, the Nazis burned down many large parts of Tivoli Gardens. -

To avoid civilian causalities, Danish citizens surrendered when Denmark was invaded by the Nazis. -

Anne's sister Margot, received a notice that the Nazis would be searching their neighborhood. -
German Soldiers on the Street
Annemarie and Ellen are stopped on the street by two Nazi soldiers who tell them not to run. -

Annemarie decides that she to, is one of the king's bodyguards.. -
Mrs. Hirsh
When Annemarie and Ellen go to get Annemarie's button fixed, the button store is closed, and there is a sign. They can't read it though, because it is in German. Mrs. Hirsh, the owner, is gone. -
Nazis Start Arresting Danish Jewish Citizens
Nazi leader Adolf Hitler ordered for Danish Jews to be arrested and deported. -
Ellen's Family Leaves
Ellen Rosen's family leaves, leaving Ellen behind, so she can be one of the Johansens for a while. The rest of her family is leaving to be safe, while the Nazis search their neighborhoods. -
Soldiers
The Nazi soldiers come into the Johansen's apartment, demanding that they tell them where the Rosens are hiding. They say they don't know, that they must be in bed. -
Soldiers cont.
Annemarie realizes that Ellen has a Jewish Star Of David necklace on, and she breaks the clasp, so the Nazis wouldn't know that she was Jewish. The soldiers go into the room where Ellen and Annemarie are sleeping. Ellen pretends to be Lise, Annemarie's dead sister. The soldiers ask who the children are, and why "Lise" has black hair instead of blond. Then, they leave. -
Great Aunt Birte
The Johansens have a "funeral" for Annemarie's fictional Great Aunt Birte. Nazis come into the house, and ask the Johansens why there are so many people gathered, and why there is a casket. Mama says that someone died, and they should not open the casket because Birte died of Typhus. The Nazis change their mind, and leave. -
The Casket
After the soldiers leave, Peter opens the casket. Inside are blankets and jackets. He gives them to the other people in the room, and they leave. -
The Package
The package is left behind by Mr. Rosen. -

Annemarie is stoped by Nazi soldiers, and they go through her basket. Later, she gets the package to her Uncle Henrik. -
The Handkerchief
Annemarie finds out that the package is a handkerchief that stops the Nazi's dogs' sense of smell with a drug. It allows the Jews to hide on the boats -
Resistance
Annemarie finds out that her almost brother, Peter, is part of the Resistance. -
Franks Betrayed
Since someone may have betrayed then, the Frank family was arrested, along with everyone they were hiding. -
The End of the Danish Holocaust
Two years after the incidents Annemarie had with the Nazi soldiers, the long war ended, and all Danish citizens could be happy again.
