Nullification Crisis

    Jackson's way to say to reassure the South Carolinas was the Proclamation. The Carolnas felt like that they had the right to nullify unfair taxes because of the uprising taxes. Jackson was stating that he was not supportive of the taxes that the Southern we're going to have to pay.

    This was to protect the northern and westerns from competition with the forgien imports. The southern thought the amount of the tariffs were unconstitutional. Which later ended the tariff returning with the rate of 35%.

    Because of the high prices going on and the Proclamation helping the South Carolinas with not paying the taxes. It was raising on the other people making it double for the others. Bringing taxes on iron and textiles.

    South Carolina is doing everything in their power so they will not have to pay for the taxes with this being said they started to vote for the nullification of the tariff.

    The bill was passed on and authorized by the Congress, which later the military was sent to collect the tariffs in South Cornalia to make it constitutional.
