Ordinance of Nullification
After the decline of the bill of 1832, South Carolina adopted the Ordinance of Nullification which declared both tariffs null and void. South Carolina passed laws like raising a military and making arms in correspondence to the Ordinance. This led to Andrew Jackson sending naval vessels and the compromise between the state and the national government. -

This was a bill passed by Congress that revised the 1828 Tariff to be lower, but South Carolinians declined this bill. -
