  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    The U.S discovered Soviet nuclear bombs in Cuba. The Soviet Union and the U.S almost enter war.
  • Latin America goes nuclear-free

    Latin America declares itself to be free of nuclear weapons.
  • Non-Proliferation Treaty is signed.

    The Treaty states that areas without nuclear weapons will not obtain them, an areas with nuclear weapons would disarm them.
  • A million people rally for the end of nuclear weapons.

    In New York Central Park, a million people gathered in the largest anti-nuclear weapons protest in history
  • Total Nuclear Test Ban is signed.

    China, France, UK, Russia, and the US all sign. India refuses to sign.
  • iCan is Founded

    The International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weaponry is founded.
