    World War 2 started when Nazi Germany invaded Poland in an attack called Blitzkrieg. The Nazis took control of most of Europe, but the remaining countries(Great Britain) fought back and eventually the US got involved. The 2 main sides were the Allies and the Axis. One of the more significant attacks to begin the fall of Nazi Germany was D-Day or Operation Overlord (June 6, 1944).

    The Cold War happened after World War 2, which was when the USSR didn't want to give back the land that they had "freed" from Nazi Germany, some events include Cuban Missile Crisis, The Korean War and the Vietnam War. The War ended making the Berlin wall which divided Germany into 2 countries East Germany(which was the one controlled by the USSR) and West Germany.
