  • Super Bowl I

    Super Bowl I
The first Super Bowl was called the AFL-NFL World Championship. It was later called Super Bowl I and was the only Super Bowl to not be sold out. The NFL started in 1920. The AFL started in 1960. No one thought an AFL team would beat a NFL team. The Green Bay Packers from the NFL played the Kansas City Chiefs from the AFL. Green Bay won 35 to 10 and Quarterback Bart Starr was named MVP. The Super Bowl trophy was named after Green Bay coach Vince Lombardi.
  • Super Bowl III

    Super Bowl III
The AFL had not won a Super Bowl. The AFL team was the New York Jets and the NFL team was the Baltimore Colts. The quarterback for the Jets was Joe Namath. Joe was angry because everyone thought the Jets would lose the Super Bowl. Joe said "We are going to win the game. I guarantee it!" The Jets won in one of the biggest upsets in professional football history. Joe Namath was named MVP. I think the Jets won because the team had to play even better when Namath guaranteed the win.
  • Super Bowl VII

    Super Bowl VII
In 1970 Don Shula left the Colts to coach the Miami Dolphins. In the 1972 season the Dolphins won every game and went to Super Bow VII. If they won the Super Bowl they would be the first team to have a perfect season with no loses. The Dolphins won the Super Bowl 14 to 7 against Washington to be the only perfect team.
  • Super Bowl X

    Super Bowl X
The Pittsburgh Steelers had been around for 36 years and were in the playoffs once. In 1969 they had a new coach named Chuck Noll and a defense called the Steel Curtain. In 1976 the Steelers went to the Super Bowl and played the Dallas Cowboys. The Steelers won the Super Bowl and ended up winning four Super Bowls in six years during the 1970s. I think one the reasons the Dolphins and Steelers had Super Bowl wins was because they great coaches.
  • Super Bowl XVI

    Super Bowl XVI
The San Francisco 49ers won their first Super Bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals in Pontiac, Michigan. Quarterback Joe Montana was named MVP and was Super Bowl MVP three years later! And in 1990 Montana as Super Bowl MVP again. The 49ers had won four Super Bowls, the same as the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Michael Jackson played the halftime show which more people watched than the actual game. The Cowboys won 52 to 17 and now had three Super Bowl wins while the Steelers and 49ers had four. One year later the Cowboys won the Super Bowl again had the same amount of championships as the Steelers and 49ers.
  • Super Bowl XXXIV

    Super Bowl XXXIV
Super Bowl 34 was the closest Super Bowl that almost went into overtime. There had not been an overtime in a Super Bowl . The St. Louis Rams were up one touchdown against the Tennessee Titans with a small amount of time left in the game. The Titans got within ten yards of a touchdown but came up only inches short. The Rams won 23 to 16. I would feel sad if my favorite team, the Detroit Lions were one yard short of a touchdown to tie up a Super Bowl game!
  • Super Bowl XXXVI

    Super Bowl XXXVI
The New England Patriots played the St. Louis Rams in one of the closest Super Bowls ever. The game was tied at 17. With five seconds left New England kicker Adam Vinatieri kicked a game winning field goal. Two years later Vinatieri, now called "Automatic Adam" won the Super Bowl with a last second field goal. The Patriots became a Super Bowl dynasty.
  • Super Bowl XLVII

At the end of the game the 49ers had a chance to win but ended up losing 34 to 31 against the Ravens.
